BALTIMORE, MD (Tuesday, June 4, 2024) – Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott invited Baltimoreans across the city to join "Art After Dark," a captivating evening of creativity and community in celebration of International Placemaking Week.

This free live event, co-hosted by the Mayor’s Office, Baltimore Development Corporation and Whitney Frazier, of WGF Studio, invites attendees to watch as a vibrant array of street artists, muralists, and graffiti writers bring the old Lexington Avenue retail corridor to life. These artists will transform shopfront gates into dynamic works of art, creating an immersive visual experience that will be projected onto an adjoining wall directed by Terry Kilby from Evergreen Digital Imaging.

Featured Artists: The event will showcase the talents of renowned artists including Gaia, Pablo Machioli, Bryan Robinson, Wendell Shannon, Adam Stab, and music by DJ Impulse.

Background: "Art After Dark" is an integral part of Mayor Brandon Scott’s Downtown Rise Initiative and his graffiti taskforce's efforts. The event is designed to foster community connections and demonstrate the transformative impact of urban art in revitalizing neighborhoods.

About International Placemaking Week: This annual event is a global gathering that features a series of workshops, panels, tours, and networking opportunities. It brings together urban planners, designers, community leaders, and residents to exchange best practices and innovative strategies for turning public spaces into vibrant, inclusive environments that truly reflect the spirit and needs of their communities.

Art After Dark will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Meadow at 200 Park Avenue, Baltimore, MD.

Participants will include the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture, WGF Studio, DBC, Bar Movement, and local street artists, muralists, graffiti writers, and food trucks. The event will include live art creation by street artists, muralists, and graffiti writers, vibrant murals reflecting Baltimore’s culture and history and music by DJ Impulse.
