BALTIMORE, MD (Wednesday, February 3, 2021) — Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced a tool that will allow the public to follow along with progress made during the first 100 days of his administration. The 100 Day of Action Tracker is available at mayor.baltimorecity.gov/tracker.

The 100 Day of Action Tracker, developed by the Mayor’s Office of Performance and Innovation, includes 58 short-term actions that will be pursued by the Scott administration. The actions center on six priority areas: (1) Building Public Safety, (2) Making Baltimore Equitable, (3) Prioritizing Our Youth, (4) Building Public Trust, (5) COVID-19 Recovery, and (6) Responsible Stewardship of City Resources. Yesterday marked Mayor Scott’s eighth week in office. As of today, 10 actions have been completed and 20 are currently in progress. 

“As a city, we continue to navigate the devastating health and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, something that adds onto Baltimore's existing inequities and unrelenting violence epidemic. To put our city on a new path, this administration will need to operate with greater urgency, transparency, accountability, and commitment to equity than ever before,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “In my conversations with my transition team, I knew we needed to show progress over time, not just tell people what we accomplished when it was done. With my team, I assembled a list of actions we could accomplish over the first 100 days, so that residents could see transformation in their City government immediately.”

The tracker is based on recommendations generated by the more than 250 Baltimoreans who were involved in the Mayor’s transition team. The transition team included youth, community leaders, advocates, artists, and entrepreneurs who worked diligently and collaboratively to provide recommendations to the Mayor and map the future of Baltimore. The final transition team recommendations will be released in the near future. 

“We were excited to develop this tracker because it gives increased transparency for residents around what our government is committed to achieving,” said Dan Hymowitz, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Performance and Innovation. “We’ve also made the code and data open source in part to allow other governments to easily follow Mayor Scott’s lead in creating tools for the public to follow progress on Baltimore’s policy agenda.”

Mayor Scott is focused on building a stronger foundation of City government and has already accomplished significant goals, including resuming recycling services for Baltimore’s residents, hiring the first City Administrator and first Chief Equity Officer, establishing the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, and extending emergency shelter when CARES Act funding expired. 

The Mayor and his administration are currently working on actions ranging from reforming our broken water billing system, to hiring a permanent Director for the Department of Public Works, the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services, and the Housing Department, and beginning the process of implementing a group violence reduction strategy. 

The tracker page was produced by the Office of Performance and Innovation using R Shiny, an open source web app development tool built on the R statistical computing language. Local governments interested in using Baltimore’s code can visit this Github link to view and download content.
