Mayor Rawlings-Blake Issues Statement on House Appropriations Committee Decision to Restore State Education Funding
BALTIMORE, Md. (March 13, 2015)—Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake issued the following statement regarding the Maryland House Appropriations Committee's decision to restore education funding:
“The budget changes approved by the House Appropriations Committee are an important step toward protecting the interests of Baltimore school children. Thank you to Chairman McIntosh, Speaker Busch and the members of the Baltimore City delegation for your creativity and commitment to make our students a priority. As I said in my State of the City address earlier this week, we cannot allow the Governor to balance his budget at the expense of our children’s future. I am so pleased that members of the House of Delegates agree with that philosophy. I look forward to working with members of our Senate delegation and President Miller to continue this strong progress as the budget moves forward.”
