FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BALTIMORE, MD. (Monday, July 17, 2023) - Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott encouraged neighborhood associations across Baltimore to register their events for Baltimore’s annual National Night Out (NNO) celebrations held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

National Night Out, first started in 1984, is a nationwide annual community-building campaign that connects residents and the law enforcement personnel who serve their communities. Historically, local community associations host dozens of National Night Out events every year across the city to foster public safety by encouraging more positive relationships between residents and the police.

“National Night Out reflects the core of our city’s approach to public safety, focusing on fostering engagement and trust between law enforcement and our communities,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “NNO is about addressing historical distrust, building bridges, and promoting everyone’s role in public safety for all who live, work and play in Baltimore.”

Neighborhood associations are encouraged to register their National Night Out community events online at https://bit.ly/NNO23 by Friday, July 28, 2023. For more information and history on NNO, visit https://natw.org/.

Last year, neighborhoods across Baltimore held more than 30 events during National Night Out where residents had the opportunity to meet and build relationships with law enforcement officers in their respective communities.
