Search for replacement to begin immediately as Michael Huber joins Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE, MD. (Tuesday, August 9, 2022) - Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced the departure of Chief of Staff Michael Huber effective September 2, 2022. Huber will join Johns Hopkins University and Medicine as Director of Maryland State Government Affairs.

"Michael has been a critical member of my staff both in the legislative branch and now the executive branch, helping us to implement a solid foundation for this Administration during the uncertainties of a pandemic," said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. "His many contributions, counsel and commitment to the City of Baltimore will be missed, but I am confident that we have a strong leadership team that will keep things moving forward for the City."

An attorney, Huber has worked in City Hall for seven years, serving under two Council Presidents, prior to being named Chief of Staff when Mayor Scott was sworn in in December of 2020. As Chief of Staff, he has overseen legislative, communications and constituent services for the Mayor’s Office, managed the development and execution of the City of Baltimore’s state and federal legislative and policy agendas and supported the Mayor in the operation of City government. Prior to his work in City Hall, Huber worked with former Lt. Governor Anthony Brown’s gubernatorial campaign.
