As Deputy Director of State Affairs, Abadir will work with City agencies and Baltimore City’s delegation in Annapolis, advocating on behalf of the Scott administration. “Under Director Natasha Mehu’s leadership, the Mayor’s Office of Government Relations has grown into a phenomenal team with diverse experience working with government at all levels. We’re excited to have Adam join the team, bringing new energy and focus to our work at the state level,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott.

Abadir previously served as Chief of Staff for Councilmember Kristerfer Burnett from 2016 to 2019 and worked as an organizer with SEIU. Abadir earned his B.A. in Psychology, with minors in African and African American Studies and Political Science from the Washington University in St. Louis.

Abadir serves alongside Director Natasha Mehu, Deputy Director for City and Federal Affairs Nina Themelis, Legislative Liaison Lauron Thomas, and Council Liaison Sophia Gebrehiwot.

As Chief of Staff for the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (MONSE), Mavronis will work alongside Director Shantay Jackson to coordinate and advance the work of the agency, including ensuring accountability in the implementation of the Mayor’s Comprehensive Violence Prevention Plan

“Building a safer Baltimore remains my top priority, in partnership with our communities. I have the utmost confidence in Stefanie’s understanding of the work, communication abilities, and strong policy background. She will be an asset to the MONSE team as we work to deepen our efforts, in alignment with my plan,” said Mayor Scott.

Mavronis has served as Deputy Director of Communication for the Mayor since the start of the term. She previously served as Communication Director for Council President Scott and Director of Civic Engagement for Councilmember Zeke Cohen. She earned her M.P.A. from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and B.A. degrees in Political Science and Media and Communication Studies from UMBC.
