BALTIMORE, MD (Tuesday, July 6, 2021) — Mayor Brandon M. Scott and the Baltimore City Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) will officially award $5,826,582 in grant funds through the Community Catalyst Grants Program (CCG) this evening at 6:30 p.m.

The goal of CCG, a competitive awards program, is to provide capital and operating funds for community-driven revitalization efforts. Eligible organizations include community development corporations, neighborhood-based development organizations, umbrella organizations and other community-based organizations. Eligible projects support locally driven revitalization initiatives and help advance neighborhood revitalization and transformation in long-disinvested areas.

“We witnessed how the initial Community Catalyst Grant funding helped leverage more than $52 million in community development work throughout Baltimore,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “Supporting organizations rooted in our communities will ensure the positive growth and equitable outcomes this program was designed to achieve.”

In this round of awards, the City is awarding: 

Operating Award Funds to 23 grantees

• Total amount to award: $2,275,000
• Funding to Established organizations: $575,000.00 (25%)  
• Funding to Emerging organizations: $1,700,000.00 (75%)  

Capital Award Funds to 16 grantees

• Total amount to award: $3,551,582 
• Funding to Established organizations: $1,583,323.00 (44%)  
• Funding to Emerging organizations: $1,968,259.00 (56%) 

Organizations receiving funds through the Community Catalyst Grants Program include Action Baybrook, Inc., American Communities Trust, Arch Social Community Network, Ashland Community Development Corporation, Backyard Basecamp, Inc., Baltimore Green Space, Black Women Build Baltimore, Inc., Bon Secours of Maryland Foundation, Inc., BRIDGES Community Development Corporation, Cherry Hill Development Corporation, Civic Works, Coldstream Homestead Montebello Community Corporation, Creative Alliance, Inc., Endsideout, Inc., Greater Baybrook Alliance, Green & Healthy Homes, Initiative, Inc., Greenmount West Community Center Foundation, Inc., HTP Homes, Inc., Intersection of Change, Le Mondo, Make Space, Myrtle Tyler Faithful Fund, Inc., Neighborhood Housing Services of Baltimore, Pennsylvania Avenue Black Arts and Entertainment District, Inc., Pride Center of Maryland, ReBuild Metro, Inc., Rebuilding Together Baltimore, Safe Alternative Foundation for Education, Inc., Southeast Community Development Corporation, St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center, Inc., St. Francis Neighborhood Center, Inc., and Station North Tool Library. “The demand for this support is vast and wide,” explained Acting Housing Commissioner Alice Kennedy. “We received over 100 applications that met the application guidelines and thresholds. We are grateful to be able to bring this funding to the marketplace and will continue to work to find ways to increase our support for this important work.”
