Mayor Scott Announces Second Round of Grant Funding for Restaurants and Taverns in Baltimore City
Wednesday Feb 3rd, 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BALTIMORE, MD (Wednesday, February 3, 2021) — Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced that another $3.9 million will be available to provide grants to restaurants and taverns in Baltimore City. This funding is made available by the State of Maryland to help offset COVID-related expenses incurred, or to be incurred, by restaurants and taverns. The grants will be administered by the Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC).
Unlike the previous round of restaurant funding, bars and taverns are also eligible for these grants.
“Our restaurants have remained resilient as we continue to navigate this unprecedented public health pandemic and focus on an equitable recovery,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “I encourage all restaurants to submit an application for this new round of grant funding. My administration will work closely with BDC to ensure these dollars make their way to our restaurants and taverns as soon as possible so they can stay afloat through the continuous impacts of COVID-19."
The BDC will begin taking applications online starting Wednesday, February 3, 2021 through February 19, 2021 at 11:59 PM. Grants will not be awarded on a first come first served basis, but will be awarded based on need. Any applications received after the application is closed will not be considered. The minimum grant amount is $10,000 and the maximum amount is $50,000.
“We are grateful for the additional grant funds from the State of Maryland to assist Baltimore small businesses, which have experienced significant revenue loss as a result of COVID-19 restrictions,” said Colin Tarbert, President and CEO of BDC. “BDC will continue to evaluate all grant applications based on need rather than on a first come, first served basis to ensure that we are helping the most vulnerable city businesses.”
Businesses should review the eligibility requirements and the full terms and conditions, which can be found at https://www.baltimoretogether.com/covidresources.
