BALTIMORE, Md. (May 9, 2014)—Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is currently accepting nominations for the 8th annual “Baltimore’s Top Neighborhood Dads” contest. Each year the award is presented to strong and dedicated Baltimore City men who work tirelessly to make their neighborhoods and communities better, safer and stronger. Nominations must be submitted from recognized neighborhood associations by Friday, May 23, 2014.

“During the month of June, we recognize fathers for the role they play in the lives of their families,” said Mayor Rawlings-Blake. “My dad, Pete Rawlings, was a great father to me and my siblings and a mentor to many throughout the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland. I know there are many men who inspire their neighbors and lead by example in their communities. This contest allows us to celebrate these men for the role they play in our fight to realize a better Baltimore.”

Nominees do not need to be a biological parent to be considered, but must demonstrate the same care to his neighborhood as he would to his own family. Winners will be invited to a luncheon with Mayor Rawlings-Blake, where they will be presented with a mayoral citation recognizing their accomplishments.
